What is karaoke?

Karaoke (from the Japanese words kara 'empty' and ôkesutora 'orchestra') is a form of active entertainment in which amateur singers sing along to a song with lead vocals removed and with moving lyrics displayed on a video screen. Karaoke originated in Kobe, Japan in 1971 when a local musician, Daisuke Inoue, invented the world's first karaoke machine.

What is karaoke box?

be kara OK! is a karaoke box club. Karaoke box is a variant of karaoke that is hugely popular in Asia. Unlike in the West, where karaoke takes place in a public setting such as a bar or night club, karaoke box is a club with several karaoke rooms in which groups of friends, family or colleagues are able to enjoy karaoke in a private and intimate setting.

How do I order songs?

Each room is furnished with barcoded songbooks. Using a wireless barcode scanner, simply swipe the code of the song you wish to sing and the song appears on the plasma TV. Songs automatically run in sequence. However, a remote control is available to skip to the next song.

How do I sing?

Each group is provided with 2 Shure wireless microphones and the music, microphone and echo levels are freely adjustable using the special karaoke mixing amplifier.

How many songs can I choose from and in which languages?

Choose from over 9,000 titles in Czech/Slovak, English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Russian, Serbian and Chinese. The music database will be regularly updated with new songs and additional languages.

Can I order food and drink?

Yes, via a touch screen monitor in each room. The order is then delivered to your room.

How long can I rent a room for and can I extend the time?

Rooms are rented for a minimum of 2 hours and time can usually be extended depending on availability.

How many people can fit in a room?

There are 5 private karaoke rooms. JUNGLE for up to 7 people, GALAXY, SWEET and KABUKI for up to 9 people and KING for up to 20 people.

How much does it cost to rent a room?

The KING room is 1,500 Kč per hour. The other 4 rooms are 800 Kč per hour. From 6-8pm, the KING room is 750 Kč per hour and the other 4 rooms are 400 Kč per hour. The more people in the group, the less it costs per person.

How do I reserve a room?

You can reserve a room online or by sending us an email or by calling 720 365 044 / 602 105 889 from 9am to 6pm or 222 240 035 after 6pm. You can also drop into the club and chances are a room will be available.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday from 6pm to 2am and Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 5am. We also open during afternoons and on Sunday by special reservation 2 days in advance.

Where are you located?

be kara OK! is located at Legerova 78 (on the corner of Anglicka and Legerova streets). Nearest metro and tram stops are I.P. Pavlova, Muzeum and Naměsti Miru.
